New Zealand has an estimated 8,000 people iving in modern slavery (including children).
We need people across all sectors to
- be aware of the reality, and to
- know how to identify, respond and report concerns.
Hosted by Christian Medical Fellowship of New Zealand.
Sammy Millar is The Salvation Army's Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Response contact for New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa and is involved in coordinating the social support and care of victims of human trafficking in Aotearoa. With a background in public health nursing, she is passionate about supporting professionals to be able to identify, respond to and report concerns of modern slavery and human trafficking.
The health sector is essential in developing a trauma informed and holistic approach to this atrocious violation of human rights. During this webinar, Sammy will moderate a panel of experts from Lived Experience, Oranga Tamariki, NZ Police and NZ Immigration.
We will discuss the vital role health professionals play in the response to modern slavery and human trafficking within New Zealand.
