Following our submission to PHARMAC, (see link - PHARMAC Sole Supply of Mirena (PDF)) on sole supply of mirenas, which excluded consideration of funding of mirenas for contraception, PHARMAC  has invited NZNO to “submit a funding application to PHARMAC with supporting evidence to show that there is an unmet health need and/or additional health benefit to be gained by widening access to LIUS for contraception. In particular, we would be interested to understand the unmet health needs of particular patient groups.”

This is an important equity issue for women, Māori, and disadvantaged groups.
